Heading home for the holidays! EARLY morning flight out of DIA.
Yesterday morning I made the trek from ‘Colorful Colorado’ to ‘The Great Lake State’. Kyle and I - along with 170,000 other expected holiday travels out of Denver International Airport - were scheduled to fly out yesterday. We got to the airport 4:30AM for a 6:00AM flight to Chicago. The 3:15AM alarm was made a little sweeter with a cup of hot VIA Starbucks coffee and oatmeal with blueberries lovingly made by my sweetheart. Kyle’s amazing sister Claire took us to the airport, she flew into town that evening. Having siblings/cousins/aunts and uncles in the same city is the biggest blessing. #DenverFamily

In flight I listened to one of my favorite Christmas movies Love, Actually (oh English humor) as background music to the crying babies, and turbulence with the company of kind, and always serious, Midwesterners and military personnel headed home for the holidays. Thank God!

After flying in, we took the L downtown, dropped our bags off and met Kyle's Dad, Dr. Cunningham, on Michigan Ave to finish up some last minute shopping. We stopped by Cole Haan, Brooks Brothers and enjoyed a lovely little lunch at The Grove which included lobster bisque, muscles with red sauce (the best) and a few lunch specials. The Grove was beautifully decorated and PACKED. Great location -right across from Millenium Park, The Art Museum and the bean.
Christmas in Chicago. At the University Club of Chicago.

Then we drove up two hours to lovely little West Michigan to see my beloved sisters Julianna “Jules”, 21, and Greta, 15, along with my sweet Mom and the best Grammy.

I just got the text yesterday from my Mom asking what I’d like for Christmas… so, as I suspected, there was still a bit of shopping to do after I finally I got home. Great and I headed to the mall then wrapped presents together until 2:00AM. Love her. It even snowed!

Today Christmas Eve brings fun new traditions with the Cunningham’s (An afternoon family Christmas Mass along with a feast of crab legs at Aunt Julie’s, mixed with Christmas pajamas from Grammy, sugar cookie frosting and tons of wrapping to be done at home). Most importantly, all of these traditions will be done in the company of my favorite people in the world.

“Maybe Christmas, he thought, doesn’t come from a store. Maybe Christmas, perhaps, means a little bit more.”
-Dr. Seuss’ How the Grinch Stole Christmas

What to wear to Christmas Mass? Shower here I come!
