Me and my boyfriend Kyle, blissed out on beach.
Just got back from a week long, relaxing, sun soaked vacation to South Beach with my main squeeze Kyle...although it was peppered with some work (not complaining) we the most lovely time. Truth is we have a lovely time when we're watching 30 Rock and playing footsie, but this time we replaced the couch with a lounge chair, roof with the sun and yellow striped umbrella, and background noise with the Atlantic tide.

It was a week filled with great coffee, kisses, beach yoga, bronzed skin and even a full moon concert from Kyle's favorite band, My Morning Jacket.  A Love song for your consideration.

Okay. Let's get to the food. Our last night we went out to Prime Italian for a special date night out. In the same building as the Hilton, were we stayed, we passed Prime often and noticed an excellent sign: locals, dining.  Prime Italian is not a tourist trap my friends.

This is what we enjoyed:

To start..
Prosciutto //  Aged 500 days, sliced to order. Served w/ a daily cheeses, dates, pecans & breadsticks
Slow Roasted Beet Salad // w/ arugula, San Tumas goat cheese, pickled red onions & aged balsamic

Pasta + Rissotto
Traditional Bolognese Lasagna//
Rissotto Saffron w/ Braised Short Rib//
and creamed corn as a side

FRIED OREOS// enough said
Marshmallow gelato// crafted in-house

Review: Prosciutto was to die for. It was the one thing we were both most excited to order. The dates and pecans with thin prosciutto...beyond. Beet salad was delicious. Serving size was generous and the onions - pickled in red wine vinegar - were the most tart and delicious treat ever. The pasta was extremely heavy and we probably could have gotten away with just ordering one plate to share instead (especially because of our desert choice). For desert Kyle insisted on the fried oreos (I supported his decision), something neither of us have had before. SIX fried oreo lumps were served and they were moist and delicious. WHAT A TREAT. But the real star was the toasted marshmallow gelato, made in-house by. Whoa, never tasted anything like it.

Final word: Excellent atmosphere, food and service, off the beaten path, and filled with locals, I highly recommend Prime Italian to anyone looking to relax and enjoy the scene in Miami beach.
