weekend of ski bunny firsts

Vail ski day with our favs Fritz, Kristie (center). We are on the far right.
#1 First time skiing with the boyfriend.

Kyle now officially knows how poorly I ski. The good news: he's okay with it. Although there wasn't much new snow, it was worth the drive and sunny day of skiing to be with our beloved friends Fritz and Kristie, who not only ski with us, but let us crash at their house too. Love them.  After almost ten years as a snowboarder, I picked up the sticks again for a new challenge on the hill. Why the switch? A desire to wear tighter snow pants? Yes. A serious need for speed? Well, yes. But most of all I love how technical skiing is. Goal for this ski season: become a ski bunny who knows what she's doing.

#2 First time using Vail Ski Resort's EpicMix

EpicMix is a newer technology available to season passer holders at all Vail Mountain Resorts. It does dozens of tricks, but I'll use it to tally ski days, track vertical feet skied and -my favorite part- the free photo and social integration. Brilliant! I'll post more on my thoughts on EpicMix after the new year (on our next ski trip up to Vail/Beaver Creek). On our first day of skiing this year we were on the mountain for 5 hours, rode 14 lifts and skied 18,397 vertical feet. Def the most epic first ski day I've ever had.

And today, Vail announced plans to open a new gondola in November 2012!

Happy girl, before my first run of the season
Enjoying the atmosphere, apres-ski on Friday
HUGE Tree at Kyle's Aunt Carol's on Sunday.

My life as a nanny: Ruthie's 8th Birthday Cake

It's snowing in Boulder. <3 Have you ever skied Colorado? Are you a ski bunny or a boarder babe?
