And here's to you, Mrs.Robinson

The Graduate (1967). One of my favorites.
Dustin Hoffman as Benjamin Braddock
Anne Bancroft as Mrs. Robinson

Katherine Ross as Elaine Robinson, Berkley scene

Ben floats through life after graduation and Simon & Garfunkel float right along with him.
Mrs. Robinson's endless cheeta print accessories and chunky highlights.
Elaine's heavy mascara, fresh freckle face, fringe and big-collared coats.
It's enough to inspire me for a month.

What's really inspiring is how timeless this story is. The screenplay was based on a novel, The Graduate by Charles Webb, originally written about the generation prior to Hoffman's. Even after 45 years I can relate.

So, you've been inspired.
Now what? Well, what's next is up to you.

Young adulthood is absolutely overwhelming and underwhelming, all at the same time.

  1. That book has just made it on to my reading list! The movie looks great... but I've always opted for the book option if there was one :P
