Farmers Market Find // Green Purified H2O

So this week I found the BEST farmers market find of the season. The Kishu. Okay the picture is admittedly pretty odd-looking, but stay with me.

This is a raw piece of charcoal that purifies water when simply dropped into a pitcher of water. Like Brita but... but less American ;) Kishu lasts for 6 months, purifying up to 1.5 litres of water a day and can be scattered outside in your garden and composts after 6 months of use.

How does it work? Kishu absorbs toxins (lead, mercury, chlorine, cadmium, and copper according to CSU Soil, Water & Plant Testing Lab) and adds healthy minerals to your water.

I've had the Kishu purifying system for about two months know - my boyfriend, roommate and I all agree it's the best tasting water we've ever had. It's only $12 for a Kishu of your own - find it at Gaiam or Whole Foods near you.  I still use my huge, convenient 3 litre Brita water dispenser, but without all the plastic trays taking up space. Brilliant. And made in Colorado.

Kishu (key-shoe) is also a type of puppy originally bred in Asia. Now you know.
